 How to Use Command Line Parameters

WipeDrive Command Line Parameters

For basic instructions on how to wipe a hard drive, please visit the How to Wipe a Hard Drive tutorial. For more advanced operations, these command line parameters are available for use:

  • wipedrv
    Display a menu of options.

  • wipedrv /D
    Display current drives.

  • wipedrv [hard drive number] [options] /V
    Verify that all drive sectors are clean.

  • wipedrv [hard drive number] [options] /L1 - /Ld
    Wipe specified hard drive.
    [hard drive number] would be 1 for physical disk 1, 2 for physical disk 2, etc. (-1 will wipe all physical disks)

    Wipe Levels include:

    • /L1 = Single Overwrite
      (Recommended for most security needs.)
    • /L2 = DoD 5220.22-M
    • /L3 = HMG IS5 Baseline
    • /L4 = HMG IS5 Enhanced
    • /L5 = Canadian OPS-II
    • /L6 = US Army AR380-19
    • /L7 = US Air Force 5020
    • /L8 = German VSITR
    • /L9 = NAVSO P-5239-26
    • /La = NCSC-TG-025
    • /Lb = Russian GOST P50739-95
    • /Lc = DoD 5220.22-M (3 Verify)
    • /Ld = Custom

    Options include:

    • configpath="Log Path"
      Set the log path for the wipe or verify action.

    • /U="User Name"
      Set the current user name.
