How can I Run Recover My Files over a Network?
Solution Recover My Files cannot currently be run on an Administrators computer to remotely recover data over a network from a remote computer. Full network functionality is planned for a later version.

However, it is possible to install Recover My Files on a remote computer and then run Recover My Files on the problem computer. The reason for doing this are:

  1. it avoids having to install the software on the problem hard drive and risk overwriting deleted files (other options include running the program from CD or USB - click here for instructions)
  2. being connected to a network may give you a large volume of storage space on which to store recovered files (recovered files must be saved to a separate drive than the one from which they are being recovered).

To Run Recover My Files From a Remote Computer:

    On the Remote Computer:

  1. Download and install the latest version of Recover My Files from WhiteCanyon.
  2. Share the folder C:\Program Files\GetData\Recover My Files" over the network.

    On the Problem Computer:

  1. Connect to the network. Map the shared folder of the remote computer as a drive letter on the problem computer.
  2. Run "RecoverMyFiles.exe" from the shared folder and search your drive.
  3. You can save the search results to the remote folder.
